In the heart of our sisterhood, connections are forged, growth is nurtured, and individuals transform into the best versions of themselves. To truly cultivate this enriching environment, it is essential to foster a culture that thrives on creativity.
At my home chapter, a beacon of creativity emerged in the form of Greta Cokley, a sister with an undeniable passion for books. Recognizing that she was not alone in her love for literature, she took the initiative to start the Delta Alpha Alpha Zeta's chapter book club. The leadership of our sorority embraced and encouraged her idea, providing the space for this creative endeavor to flourish.

Since its inception, our book club has convened three times, delving into the pages of six books carefully curated from the reading lists of Oprah and former President Obama. As a self-proclaimed book nerd, I eagerly embraced this initiative. What unfolded before us, however, was more than just a literary journey; it was a lesson in cementing retention within our sisterhood.
With a small, intimate group of 5-8 women sharing a common passion, our book club meetings transcend the ordinary. They serve as a platform for open discussions, where diverse perspectives are celebrated, and meaningful connections are forged. Importantly, these gatherings go beyond the pages, providing an opportunity for us to break bread together and delve into one another's lives on a deeper level.
This 'stickiness' is the glue that keeps sisters returning week after week. Sisterhood, support, and the bonds forged in our book club are priceless. I challenge you to check the health of your chapter culture. What are you doing to create that stickiness where sisters want to stay?
Let us all take a moment to reflect on the importance of initiatives like DAAZ's book club. They are not just gatherings; they are the building blocks of a resilient sisterhood, a testament to the power of shared passions and the depth of connections we can create when we come together.
